Le Ton Beau Designs is the creation of Amanda Williams. As a young girl she would sit under the table playing with pieces of fabric as her mother made her school clothes and a lifelong love of design was born.  Amanda tried to learn to knit as a child as well but was not as successful.  After college she took up knitting again with much more success and when her child was born she became completely hooked. Never one to follow patterns to the letter Amanda soon began to create her own patterns and found the writing as engrossing as the creation of the items themselves.

 

Now Amanda shares her passions with the greater knitting community through Le Ton Beau Designs.  In French “le ton beau” means “the good tone”, but in Japanese “tonbo” means dragonfly, which represents spirited energy.  Le Ton Beau Designs draws on influences from both those cultures as well as the American tradition of borrowing and blending from all over.  The patterns we offer are ones we want to knit ourselves.  The tools are only ones we use in our own knitting and spinning.  We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
